Farmingdale wrestling scholarships

Through our strong alumni network, the Farmingdale Wrestling program has been fortunate enough to endow seniors with college scholarships every year. We strive to help our student athletes succeed on the mat and beyond in their college careers.

Hewitt Family Scholarship

Bill Hewitt grew up in Farmingdale and was a proud 1968 graduate of Farmingdale H.S. where he became a champion wrestler. Bill graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in 1972, he traveled the world and ultimately became a Ship's Captain specializing in Natural Liquidated Gas Tankers. Bill was an avid skier, private airplane pilot, golfer and putting coach. After his life at sea, Bill became a highly successful real estate investor. Bill Hewitt was a loving husband, brother and uncle. He viewed his friends as among the most important things in life, and it showed. After Bill's passing, the Hewitt family fund was created. Through this fund the Farmingdale Wrestling team has been able to give college and camp scholarships to wrestlers who have developed a commitment to wrestling through a fun, competitive and team oriented experience. These individuals have shown great growth in wrestlling and as student-athletes.
